Keep your pets safe indoors

Make sure your pets are safely indoors on Halloween. Because although there are lots of lovely, kind humans in the world, some are not so nice.

We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but please consider your pets when you are planning any parties or games. If you are going to put up decorations, make sure they are dog-and-cat-friendly. Avoid anything that they might get caught in or wrap around their neck. And think about whether it’s something they might eat that could cause them severe stomach problems.

Because they are treated like a member of your family, there’s always the temptation to put them in a costume. But if your pet doesn’t like their new outfit and it’s causing them distress, then take it off them.

Other aspects of Halloween can be safety risks for pets, especially trick or treating. You probably already know that dogs shouldn’t eat chocolate, but it’s also something to keep away from other pets too. Their digestives systems can’t cope with it, but it can also lead to hyperactivity, heart damage, seizures or even death.
