Billy

This is Billy when he arrived here in February 2021 dirty, neglected and very ill. At one point we did not think he would survive and he was also a little aggressive, probably because he was in a lot of pain.

When Billy arrived at Chats de Chatillon he was starving, tired, sad and very poorly.

A few weeks later and he has come on in leaps and bounds. Although he has tested positive for FIV Billy is making a remarkable recovery. His bad temper has improved, and he is turning into a really happy boy who loves a cuddle. A few days before the latest photos of him were taken, a lovely couple came to donate food and litter for our refuge, and they asked to see the cats. They were amazed to see Billy because apparently he had been a stray in Parthenay for nearly 2 years, and used to do his rounds visiting for food. He would never allow anyone to approach or touch him.

Now he is more at peace with the world and wants human contact. It will be a few more weeks before he will be available for adoption because we are still learning about Billy and him us. But he is such a handsome boy and we hope, one day soon, he will be able to find a caring home.

Update 15th August 2021

You broke our hearts darling BILLY BOY 💔
On Friday, out of the blue, our beautiful Billy, who we rescued in Parthenay passed away. When he arrived here he was very aggressive, biting, and in terrible condition. Over the months he very slowly learnt that we had nothing but love for him, and he allowed us to have some contact.
Although he tested FIV positive he regained his health and was a gorgeous cat with a shining glossy coat. He began to enjoy his new life and allowed me to administer eye drops and medication. He would jump onto my lap and put his arms around my neck, and gently murmur in my ear. We all loved him so much.
On Friday (13/08/2021) though he suddenly became very weak. We took him to the vet who said he had an intestinal infection, and because of the FIV he didn’t think he could fight it. We brought him home with his medication for the week and settled him to bed.
At 9pm when we went to check on him, his condition had deteriorated, and for the next 3 hours we held him in our arms, begging him to pull through, telling him how much we loved him. Sadly, a few minutes after midnight our precious BILLY took one last breathe, reached out both his paws to my face, and passed away.

Rest in peace darling Billy Boy, say hello to all the others that have gone before you over the rainbow bridge. We shall all be reunited in time.
